With Tony Griffin and his magnificent fundraising effort so much on my mind these days I have begun thinking that I should do something rather than just applaud other people’s efforts. The Dublin Marathon is coming up in about four months and maybe this is the thing to do. Having come back from Canada, I have once again put on a few pounds. Always happens with hotels and restaurant food for a couple of weeks. This is an interesting project, spending four months training for something useful. The charity that is being focussed on is the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street. Given that one of my sisters spent a long time in this hospital many years ago, there are more than enough reasons why I should consider this. Also, I am turning 38 in a few weeks time, so the old clock is ticking and maybe this is the last time I will have the knees to last 26 miles. I think I will start training and see how it comes along.
