Today I have discovered the blog site of the Rev. Ian Hall BSSC. It is one of the most disturbing blogs I have had the misfortune to come across. On this blog, Rev. Hall, who is a protestant minister, rants about protestant clergy being soft, rants about “Roman thugs”. He has a particular rant about “sodomites” with homosexuality being called a “vile sin”.

It is slightly disturbing that the right are becoming more and more vocal. I would have thought that this would die out soon and people could go ahead living their lives without being the subject of another person’s prejudice. In the Seanad elections we have Rónán Mullen being elected. Mullen seems to have strong views of society needing help, the family needing help and the family being the basic unit of society. Ergo, non traditional families have something wrong with them. I guess gay families is a bridge too far. Just a guess.

Ian Hall found Christ in the Rev. Ian Paisley’s ministry, according to his blog and he became ordained in 2005. He is not elected, but obviously he is an exemplar of the kind of person supporting Paisley up north. Time will tell what kind of view Mullen will bring to the table here in the Republic.

Any comments welcome.
