I sometimes feel that on the blogosphere there is nothing but doom and gloom and rarely do I see a good story, unless it is about sport. I find that whinging gets me down and on balance I don’t think Ireland is a bad place. I like the people and the fact that we have pubs and hurling and rugby and a good education system and cars and stuff like that. The down side is of course the health system which sucks unless you have money (I got health insurance for the first time a couple of months ago) and the traffic.
However, if you read the blogs, it seems like we are living in a dreadful place and I just don’t think it is that bad. Mind you when I first graduated from college unemployment was at 18% and everybody emigrated. Most bloggers seem to be in their late 20s or early 30s and never had to deal with that kind of thing or else they have a very one-sided pessimistic outlook - perhaps that is what drives them to blog.
And just to remind us of how it was in these days of 20 years ago….we have a bus strike today over two new routes. The Labour Relations Commission and the Labour court said that the new conditions for the drivers were fine and yet we have a strike. Last week it was electricians for the H.S.E. on strike over lightbulbs.
Oh, God, I’m sounding like a blogger…
Anyway, I’m off to Croke Park of all places now.
