Four things have happened or are happening this week in my scientific life.

The Science Foundation Ireland Science Summit is on at City West Hotel and I have been at that, listening to the great and the good of Irish science talking about what they do.

The same Science Foundation Ireland turned down my pre-proposal for funding.

Along with my colleague Davide Pisani, I have a paper published in the journal Science, the top scientific journal in the world, some would say (see sidebar for citation).

I am going to Aspen, Colorado for Rocky07, then on to the University of Wyoming and then to Kentucky to try to lure a biotech company here with tales of our scientific magnificence.

A quiet week then.

In other news, my former PhD student, Chris Creevey, now working at probably the best bioinformatics laboratory in Europe (Peer Bork’s lab in Heidelberg) has also published in science this week.

blogging might be sporadic for the next two weeks.
