Australian actor Heath Ledger has died in a New York apartment. According to the New York Times, the signs point to suicide. He was found at 3:35 ET, naked and on a bed surrounded by pills. It was known that Ledger had a problem with heroin.

This is yet another example of a celebrity whose life has been cut short. I have already blogged about the dangers of being a rock star and once again we are seeing just how dangerous this lifestyle seems to be. River Phoenix springs to mind immediately. Talented, wealthy, the envy of many and now, dead.

It is not trite to say that Britney Spears is very likely to go the same way.

Anyway, Heath Ledger, who was only 28 years old would have been a tremendous talent and a long term talent, I think. Its very sad to see that this won’t now happen. I don’t think there is an afterlife, but maybe he is at peace now.
