Clearwire are still taking my money months after I asked them to stop doing it.
Do not, I REPEAT do not get clearwire broadband.
Their service is lousy and their customer support is lousy and they have refused time and again to stop charging me for a service I am no longer using.
Do not get […]

This is van Gogh’s starry night. I want to see this painting for real before I die.
Anybody got any painting they want to see before they die? Stick up a link if you have one.

To the contrary.
This self-description is being made in a way that is proud and indeed subversive. For it is […]

First of all, I know nothing about the Lisbon treaty. I would normally be interested in this kind of thing, but my mind has been elsewhere of late. However, I was listening to Pat Kenny this morning and he had some people on it that were talking about it.
Essentially, the argument against the […]

Going to Rio de Janeiro on Saturday to teach on an EMBO course. The temperature right now (early morning in Rio) is 23 degrees C. Time to dust off the flip flops.
Am leaving Ireland on Saturday afternoon late. Flying to Charles de Gaulle airport, just outside Paris. After a very short […]

Yesterday, I was looking at the Sunday Independent and there was an article in it about how first-time house buyers were once again coming into the market and picking up houses at bargain prices.
I wonder if this is true. The article quoted somebody, if I remember correctly, as saying that there were queues for […]

This morning I changed my internet service provider from Clearwire to ChorusNTL. Clearwire were supposedly providing me with a 2Mb connection and ChorusNTL are providing me with a 1Mb connection speed, 80 digital channels and a landline (VOIP) telephone for the same money.
Why then is my new ChorusNTL connection approximately 4 times faster?
Clearwire - […]

So, back from Heidelberg, Germany. Talk was fine and was brought to dinner afterwards. One of the things about going for dinner abroad is that sometimes they recognise that you don’t speak the local lingo, they take pity on you and bring you a menu translated into English. So, this was one […]
