Once again at the end of a GAA match, the referee had to be escorted off the field by the Gardaí.  This happened today at the end of the Dublin-Monaghan football game in Parnell Park.  The referee was subjected to abuse by the Dublin supporters and sustained booing.
In my opinion the referee was coming down hard on Dublin for persistent professional fouling and the two Dublin players that were sent off deserved to be sent off.  Dublin were playing a cynical style of football towards the end, holding play up and fouling in the middle of the field when there was no reason to foul.
Ironically, when Dublin were not doing that kind of thing, they were comfortably the better team in the second half.  It is hard to know if things started going wrong because of the fouling or if they started fouling because things were starting to go wrong and they were feeling the pressure.
The referee did not do too many wrong things in my opinion.
That he had to be escorted off the field for his own safety is yet another disgrace that the GAA needs to deal with.
