First of all let me say NEVER get Clearwire Broadband.
Now that I have said that for the umpteenth time, let’s get on to UPC.
They are my broadband provider and so far I have found them to be excellent. My broadband flies along fine and the connection speed is only 1 Mb.
However, according to SiliconRepublic, they have announced a new deal of 20 Mb broadband speeds for 40 Euro per month. If this is true, then I take my hat off to them. While it will only exist in the major metropolitan areas, I think, it is still an excellent development and should change things like the fact that people can download DVD-quality movies in a reasonable time, move large amounts of data around, etc.
I have had no problems with UPC so far, so right now, I am saying that I am delighted with this and hurrah!!
It all kicks off on July 1st, I believe.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI saw that one as well. i would guess that this will be a general upgrade of packages. the 1 Meg to 3, the 6 to 10 and the 12 to 20. This is just a guess.
If it is true then i would say that the 20 Meg connection will have a monthly cap of 120 Gigs… that might even be enough for me!
yeah, i was wondering about whether they might cap the amount you can download. Clearly, with such a bandwidth, you could download a lot in a month.
Hi
I currently have cable TV with NTL and enquired about their TV/Broadband/telephone package and was told that this was available to me in Dublin 7. Apparently access to service is dependant on the specific house/apt location, i.e. the direction it is facing, whether it is a 1 or 2 storey, whether it is overlooked, etc. This seems strange given that std cable TV works fine. Anyone else come across this problem. Also any recommendation for a broadband provider for general domestic purposes? Thanks
