I have just read how Minister Barry Andrews has referred the diocese of Cloyne to the Commission of Investigation into the Archdiocese of Dublin.

This is sad, though once again not surprising.  The level of protection the catholic church is offering to sex-offenders, even now is staggering.

The HSE have just published their investigation into the handling of child sex abuse cases and concluded that no diocese needed to be referred to the commission.  However, Barry Andrews has nonetheless gone against this advice and here is why:

“I believe that there is evidence that points to the fact that Bishop [John] Magee, as the responsible person, did not faithfully report actual compliance with child protection procedures and the manner in which clerical sexual abuse allegations have been dealt with,” said Mr Andrews.

Barry Andrews seems to believe the Bishop lied.
