I was watching Obama’s inauguration live and my thoughts came back to Hilary Clinton.  I favoured her in the Democrat run-off.  I feel that she has some very fine views on healthcare and foreign policy.  I felt that she had the weight of experience that is needed to be a good president of the US and I felt that after GWB’s total failure, she would being back those days when the US actually had a budget surplus and when it was not waging war on half the planet*.

I suspect that as the first female president of the US, she would have garnered a certain amount of the kind of admiration that Barack Obama has engendered.  I feel that as a woman of strong views and as an intelligent, articulate politician, she would have been a welcome relief for the people of the US.

I guess the women will have to wait - probably 8 years at least - for their first president.

But, it will happen.

Comments are welcome.

*I know the US is not waging war on half the planet, but this is poetic licence.
